Until further notice, you can drop off unwanted electronics and scrap metals and appliances anytime at Electronic Waste Recycle, 1 Sweetnam Drive, Stittsville (Ottawa), Ontario. There is no charge to drop off items. The free drop off service allows you to get rid of unwanted, obsolete electronics and helps protect the environment. Check www.ewasterecycle.ca for more information, or to schedule a large item or quantity pickup. This company donates a portion of its proceeds to Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.

2016-04-047-Eleven Canada Corporate Fundraiser -

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Canadian Association of Guide and Assistance Dog Schools (CAGADS) have partnered with 7-Eleven in recognizing International Guide Dog Day. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 is International Guide Dog Day and, to help raise awareness around guide and assistance dogs and better serve all its customers, 7-Eleven Canada has joined forces with the Canadian Association of Guide & Assistance Dog Schools (CAGADS). The retailer is supporting CAGADS through a number of initiatives in April including collecting customer coin box donations from all its stores across the country in addition to producing employee training and general awareness videos. Other components of the 7-Eleven Canada guide and assistance dogs campaign include in-store awareness posters, promoting CAGADS member fundraising initiatives via its social media channels and a media relations campaign. 2016-04-16CGDB at Parent & Child Expo 2016 -

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind will host a booth at the Parent & Child Expo 2016 on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 10am-5pm each day. Stop by to visit us and meet a guide dog in training. Tickets to the show are available in advance and will be available at the door. The entrance to the show is entrance 4 at the rear parking lot of the Nepean Sportsplex. We are simply an exhibitor at the show, but you can find out about the show at http://parentandchildexpo.ca. There is also a $2 admission discount coupon on the show website.

Chances R Restaurant presents the 7th Annual Dining in the Dark; Unseen Cuisine, in support of Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. Dine in the dark on Monday, May 16, 2016 with a blacked out restaurant and served four course meal. In the first six years, Chances R has raised over $25,000 from Dining in the Dark. Tickets always sell out quickly. They are available now for $35 each at Chances R Restaurant. Dining in the Dark has two sittings scheduled at 5:00pm and 7:30pm.

Join Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind for our annual Dollar$ for Dog$ Fundraising Walk. It’s a 4-km walk-a-thon for you and your pet dog. All well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join us for the event. Registration starts at 9:30am and the walk begins at 10:30am. Then, stay for some food and prizes. All proceeds are directed towards the training of guide dogs and assistance dogs. Raise pledges in advance by signing up online at www.guidedogs.ca or contact us for a hard-copy paper pledge form – events@guidedogs.ca or 613-692-7777. It’s a fun morning out for you and your dog, rain or shine!

Look for Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind in our hometown village of Manotick, Ontario. It’s Dickinson Days weekend, in honour of the founder of Manotick, and we’ll be in the parade this evening, which makes its way down Manotick Main Street. The parade starts out from the Manotick Arena at 7pm.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind and Manotick Veterinary Hospital invite you to an evening of the big band sounds of the Ottawa New Horizons “Two Beats Ahead Jazz Band” on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Orchard View Wedding & Event Centre, 6346 Deermeadow Drive, Greely. Meet future guide dogs when the doors open at 7:30pm, and groove to the music from 8:00pm. 100% of ticket sales benefit Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, and the venue has been donated free of charge by Orchard View. Tickets are available in advance from Manotick Veterinary Hospital or at Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. Order by phone at (613) 692-7777. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 10.

The 3rd annual Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind Nine & Dine Golf Fun Day and Lobster Dinner will take place on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the Canadian Golf & Country Club, 7800 Golf Club Way, Ashton, Ontario. The day features 9-holes of golf with cart, plus a scrumptious, full lobster dinner to follow. Shotgun start is 2:00pm, with dinner at 5:30pm, and plenty of prizes. This is meant as a fun day of golf. Experienced players are certainly welcome. However, we encourage new or occasional golfers to join in the fun, with no pressure! Cost is $99 per player. Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind hosts our annual UK Day Garden Party & Tea. Stop by for tea & scones on Sunday, July 24, 2016, from 1:00pm-4:00pm. The event takes place at the National Training Centre of Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, 4120 Rideau Valley Drive North, Manotick. Enjoy scones, prepared by the Chef of Earnscliffe, the residence of the British High Commissioner to Canada, and tea with Devon cream, donated by Bakker’s General Store. There will be live music by KONTRAST the BAND (https://soundcloud.com/kontrast-the-band). Tickets will be $15 at the door. Purchase in advance and save, as advanced tickets are just $12. 2016-09-11Guide Dog Motorcycle Ride -

The 28th annual Guide Dog Dice Run is an all-brand motorcycle ride in support of Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. Hosted by the Ottawa River Riders, all bikers are welcome to join us, rain or shine, to raise funds towards the training of guide dogs and assistance dogs. Registration is from 9:00-10:30. Depart once you’re signed up and begin the 200-km ride through Eastern Ontario. After the ride, stay for a barbecue, prizes, and a walk through our kennels to meet some dogs. Cost is $20 per person, which is paid on-site and includes ride registration, one score card, and one BBQ ticket. Stop by to enjoy some baked treats, shop, and support our cause. There’ll be lots to choose from. (No outside vendors please)
