Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind has launched our 2016 Christmas Chocolate Fundraiser with Purdy’s Chocolatier! You can purchase your Christmas chocolate and help support Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, providing professionally trained guide dogs to Canadians who are visually impaired since 1984. This program gives 25% of the profit back to Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, and it’s an easy way to complete your Christmas shopping. Prices are the same as in Purdy’s store, but by ordering in our fundraiser, Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind gets 25% of the cost! All Purdy’s Chocolates are made FRESH in their factory and without additives or preservatives.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind has launched a raffle for a WestJet "Gift of Flight". You can win a return trip for two people to any scheduled WestJet destination, including all fees and taxes. A maximum of 705 tickets will be sold. Cost is $20.00 per ticket. The draw is December 30, 2016. The prize of a Gift of Flight has been donated by WestJet with 100% of the proceeds supporting the training of guide dogs and assistance dogs. Winrose Animal Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba presents their second annual Hallowscream Party on Friday, October 28, 2016. The event features a costume contest for our four legged and two legged friends, plus a bake sale and Halloween pet photos, at a cost of $10 for up to five digital photos (cash only). Join in the fun on October 28 between 6:00pm and 8:00pm. All proceeds support Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind will host an Information Night at the Avonmore Library Branch; part of the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry County Library. The event runs from 7:00pm-8:00pm and will give attendees the opportunity to learn more about Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, including how to become a volunteer Puppy Raiser, fostering a future guide dog in your home for 12-18 months. The main presenter will be Bob Berrigan, along with his guide dog Gus.

Friday, November 25, 2016 is “Black Friday”, a day of amazing sales at various shopping outlets. Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind will host a gift wrapping kiosk at Place d’Orleans during Black Friday. We’ll wrap your holiday purchases in exchange for your donation to Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. We’ll be there all day in the community kiosk, waiting to wrap your gifts. Then, we’ll be back wrapping gifts again from December 1 – December 24.

Look for Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind at Place d'Orléans this holiday season as we’ll be hosting a holiday gift wrapping kiosk. We’ll be set up in the community kiosk and be waiting to wrap your gifts in exchange for your donation. For a second consecutive year, Place d'Orléans has been kind enough to partner with us and grant us the space for this project. We’ll need volunteers to wrap gifts too. Contact us if you would like to help this holiday season. Have your gifts wrapped during all mall hours from December 1 – December 24.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind will host our 4th annual Nine & Dine Golf Fun Day & Lobster Dinner at the Canadian Golf & Country Club, 7800 Golf Club Way, Ashton on Sunday, June 11, 2017. The day features 9-holes of golf with cart, plus a scrumptious, full lobster dinner to follow. Shotgun start is 2:00pm, with dinner at 5:30pm, and plenty of prizes. This is meant as a fun day of golf. Experienced players are certainly welcome. However, we encourage new or occasional golfers to join in the fun, with no pressure!
