M&M Meat Shops in Manotick will donate to Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind 15% of the value of purchases made at the Manotick store from the approved shopping list of eligible products as part of the store’s Community Fundraising Program. This fundraiser continues at the Manotick M&M Meat Shops location only, 990 River Road. Stop in, make a purchase, and tell them you would like to support the Canadian Guide Dogs fundraiser. If you would like a list of which items qualify for the fundraiser, email events@guidedogs.ca. This is a great way to stock up your freezer with delicious quality products from M&M Meat Shops and support Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.

2015-05-25Dining in the Dark at Chances R -

Chances R Restaurant presents the 6th Annual Dining in the Dark; Unseen Cuisine, in support of Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. Dine in the dark on Monday, May 25, 2015 with a blacked out restaurant and served four courses meal. Tickets are $35 per person. Doors open one hour before and there are two sittings; 5:00pm and 7:30pm. You must purchase a ticket in advance to attend, and tickets do sell out quickly. Tickets are available at Chances R in the College Square plaza at 1365 Woodroffe Avenue. In the first five years, Chances R has raised over $20,000 from Dining in the Dark.

2015-05-31Dollar$ for Dog$ Fundraising Walk -

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind will host our 31st annual fundraising walk on Sunday, May 31, 2015. Join us for the Dollar$ for Dog$ Fundraising Walk at Andrew Haydon Park, a 4-km walk with your best canine friend, plus a BBQ and terrific prizes. You can attend our national walk in Ottawa, Ontario. The more pledges you raise, the more prizes you can win. Enjoy free Tim Horton’s coffee & Timbits from the Rogers 22 Community Cruiser, from 9:30am-10:30am. The walk starts at 10:30am. If you live outside of Ottawa, you can still register and walk in your own community. Local or national walkers can create a profile page and register online by going to our homepage at www.guidedogs.ca. For a hard copy pledge form email events@guidedogs.ca or phone 613-692-7777. In addition to participating, this is a great way to promote your business, especially if dog-related. 2015-06-01Stroller & Coat Check Campaign -

Richmond Centre, in Richmond, British Columbia, will support Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind through their stroller rental and coat check donations program, in which they raise funds for charities on a monthly basis. Richmond Centre will do so throughout the month of June, as well as September 2015.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind will participate in “Doors Open Ottawa” at our National Training Centre, from 10am-4pm. Stop by to learn more about our organization. The day includes a video presentation, tours of our residence and kennel buildings, and training demonstrations. We look forward to opening our doors to you. Stay for awhile or, if you are heading to several Doors Open Ottawa venues and can only be here for a short while, make note of our demonstration times: 10:10am – Guide Dogs 10:50am – Assistance Dogs 11:30am – Assistance Dogs 12:20pm – Assistance Dogs 1:15pm – Assistance Dogs 2:00pm – Guide Dogs 2:50pm – Guide Dogs 3:30pm – Guide Dogs

2015-06-14CGDB Nine & Dine Golf Fun Day & Lobster Dinner -

The first time was so much fun, we’re doing it again! The 2nd annual Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind Nine & Dine Golf Fun Day and Lobster Dinner will take place on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the Canadian Golf & Country Club, 7800 Golf Club Way, Ashton, Ontario. Sign up on our website home page at www.guidedogs.ca or phone us at (613) 692-7777 to register. Cost is $89 per player, which includes 9-holes of golf with cart, plus a full lobster dinner to follow. Shotgun start is 2:00pm, with dinner at 5:30pm. This is meant as a fun day of golf. Experienced players are certainly welcome. However, we encourage new or occasional golfers to join in the fun, with no pressure! Note our new location this year.

2015-07-26UK Day Garden Party & Tea -

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind hosts our annual UK Day Garden Party & Tea, in the tradition of British High Tea. Stop by for tea & scones on Sunday, July 26, 2015, from 12:00pm-3:00pm. The event takes place at the National Training Centre of Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, 4120 Rideau Valley Drive North, Manotick. Enjoy authentic Devon cream tea and scones prepared by the Chef of Earnscliffe, the residence of the British High Commissioner to Canada. There will be live music with the terrific sounds of Lynch & Fine – www.lynchfine.com. Tickets will be $15 at the door. Purchase in advance and save, as advanced tickets are just $13. All proceeds are directed towards the training of guide dogs and assistance dogs.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind will be open to the public from 12-3pm on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, as we host an Open House, featuring tours of our residence building and kennels, training demonstrations, and lots of dogs on-site. Admission and parking are free. Donations are appreciated.

2015-09-13CGDB Motorcycle Ride -

The 27th annual Guide Dog Dice Run is an all-brand motorcycle ride in support of Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. Hosted by the Ottawa River Riders, all bikers are welcome to join us, rain or shine, to raise funds towards the training of guide dogs and assistance dogs. Registration is from 9:00-10:30, with free Tim Horton’s coffee & Timbits from the Rogers 22 Community Cruiser. Depart once you’re signed up and begin the 200-km ride through Eastern Ontario. After the ride, stay for a barbecue, prizes, and a walk through our kennels to meet some dogs. Cost is $20 per person, which is paid on-site and includes ride registration, one score card, and one BBQ ticket.
