The Dundas County Players, your local community theatre in Winchester, Ontario, presents “The Miracle Worker” by William Gibson. “The Miracle Worker” is the inspiring story of a most remarkable woman – Helen Keller. She lost her sight and hearing at the age of 18 months and was plunged into a world of loneliness, unable to communicate with those around her. Showtimes: May 2nd and 3rd at 7:30pm, May 4th at 2:30pm, May 9th and 10th at 7:30pm and May 11th at 2:30pm. Tickets are $15 for adults. 2014-05-03Rain Barrel Sale -

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind is hosting our 4th annual Rain Barrel Sale until Saturday, May 3, 2014. Water & sewer rates continue to rise. Rain barrels save you money by capturing and storing rain water collected from roofs through downspouts. They provide chlorine-free and fluoride-free water which is ideal for flowers, vegetables, lawns, shrubs and trees. Collected water has a number of other uses including washing cars, cleaning floors, laundry and more. These many uses can provide cost savings and conservation opportunities for every homeowner, especially those who pay to have water trucked in, use a well or have a water meter installed. Purchasers have a choice of colours and each rain barrel available through this sale comes equipped with all the parts you need to set up your barrel These environmentally friendly products were once used to transport fruits and vegetables and have been refurbished and repurposed to offer years of reliable service as rain barrels. Rain Barrels start at $60 each and must be ordered in advance online at www.rainbarrel.ca/guidedogs or by phone at (613) 692-7777. Order now, and you can pick up your rain barrel at our truckload sale on Saturday, May 3, 2014 between 10am and 2pm.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind will host our 30th annual fundraising walk on Sunday, May 25, 2014, presented by 98.5 The Jewel. Join us for the Dollar$ for Dog$ Fundraising Walk, a 4-km walk with your best canine friend, plus a BBQ and terrific prizes. You can attend our national walk at Andrew Haydon Park in Ottawa, Ontario. The more pledges you raise, the more prizes you can win. In addition to participating, this is a great way to promote your business, especially if dog-related. Contact us to learn more about our promotional and sponsorship opportunities for Dollar$ for Dog$. If you live outside of Ottawa, you can still register and walk in your own community. Join us for Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind Nine & Dine, a fun day of golf and dinner to raise funds towards the training of guide dogs and assistance dogs. This tournament is meant as a fun day for new or inexperienced golfers. No intimidation here! Sign up for a fun day of nine holes of golf at Carleton Golf & Yacht Club, plus a seafood BBQ dinner. The 26th annual Guide Dog Dice Run is an all-brand motorcycle ride in support of Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. Hosted by the Ottawa River Riders, all bikers are welcome to join us, rain or shine, in a 200-km ride through Eastern Ontario to raise funds towards the training of guide dogs and assistance dogs. Registration is from 9:00-10:30. Depart on your own or as part of guided rides leaving at 9:30 and 10:00am. After the ride, stay for a barbecue, prizes, and a walk through our kennels to meet some dogs. Cost is $20 per person, which is paid on-site and includes ride registration, one score card, and one BBQ ticket.
