“Meet the Guide Dogs” is our annual Open House event. It’s your chance to take a tour of the National Training Centre of Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, including our kennels. You can also see guide dog training demonstrations, meet working guide dogs, guide dogs in training, and dogs from our own breeding program. Meet the Guide Dogs runs from 11am – 3pm. Admission is free, but if you think our dogs and pups are cute donations would be appreciated! We kindly request that you do not bring your own dogs to this event.

2010-07-31UK DAY GARDEN PARTY & TEA

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind hosts our annual UK Day Garden Party & Tea, in the tradition of British High Tea. Stop by for tea & scones between 1:00pm and 4:00pm. Tickets will be $15 at the door. Purchase in advance and save, as advanced tickets are just $13. Tickets are available by calling 613-692-7777. This is a rain or shine event with indoor & outdoor seating. Your ticket includes tea served with imported Double Devon Cream, scones prepared by the Chef of the British High Commission, and live musical entertainment.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind will host an awareness display at Wal-Mart in Pembroke, Ontario. Stop by between 11 and 3 to meet a working guide dog and learn more about Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, including our fostering program.

2010-09-12CHARITY MOTORCYCLE RIDE

The ‘Guide Dog Run’ Motorcycle Ride is an all-brand event, hosted by the Ottawa River Riders and presented by Live 88.5. All bikers are welcome to join us, rain or shine, in a 200-km ride through Eastern Ontario to raise funds towards the training of guide dogs. Registration is from 9:30-10:30, during which you can enjoy free Tim Horton’s coffee & Timbits from the Rogers 22 Community Cruiser. Then, depart for the ride, which is followed by a barbecue and prizes after the ride. Also tour the kennels of Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind and meet some of the dogs. Registration is $15 per rider. Call us for more information.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind presents our annual Golf Tournament, 18-holes, plus lunch, dinner, skill competitions, and lots of prizes on Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Carleton Golf & Yacht Club in Manotick, Ontario, all for $160 per player. Carleton Golf & Yacht Club offers excellent shot-value and will hone every element of your game. With water on 10 holes, devilishly well-placed bunkers, and tempting twists and turns, you will soon become familiar with the term "risk and reward". Tucked in a scenic setting on an islet of the Rideau River, the course is within minutes of the communities of Manotick, Barrhaven and Riverside South. From downtown Ottawa, a relaxing 30-minute drive south on highway 416 clears your head and puts you on the tee with the lush green carpet ahead of you and work far behind. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2010 GO FOR GUIDE DOGS VICTORIA Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind will host our annual “Go For Guide Dogs” Walk and Family Fun Day at Beaver Lake Regional Park. The day consists of a 5-km fundraising dog walk, plus vendors, free samples, and a dog social. More details coming soon.
