Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind accepts applications from Canadian citizens or residents of Canada who are visually-impaired.

Anyone over the age of 16, who is in good general health and whose lifestyle would be enhanced by having a Guide Dog, may apply. Applicants are evaluated on physical condition, mobility, degree of blindness, and general ability to care for and work a Guide Dog.

Applicants are interviewed in their homes by a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor and each applicant is evaluated individually. Successful candidates are placed on a waiting list until a suitable Guide Dog is available for them.

Accepted applicants undergo a residential training class to learn how to successfully work and handle their Guide Dog.

Please complete and email the application form to info@guidedogs.ca. The application is also available upon request by calling the National Office at (613) 692-7777.
