Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind (CGDB) is currently seeking a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor (GDMI) to work full-time in Manotick, Ontario, initially on a two-year contract, renewable.
You will be expected to train guide dogs and guide dog teams, perform aftercare visits nationwide, and occasionally attend CGDB related events. Candidates should be prepared to spend nights away from home, throughout Canada, when required. In your spare time, you will be able to enjoy hiking, canoeing, camping, skiing, snowboarding, boating, various cultural events, and amazing cuisine from all parts of the world. The successful candidate must meet the following requirements: You MUST (non-negotiable) hold a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor qualification recognized by the International Guide Dog Federation; Minimum of 2 years experience in the guide dog industry; Strong organizational skills; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Sound skills and knowledge expected of a GDMI, plus an open attitude to new insights in dog training; Strong time management skills; Able to work as part of a team; Valid driver’s licence; Bilingualism (English and French) is considered as asset, but not essential.
